This web page explains CA cobra quotes. The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) is a program that allows certain individuals to keep their group health insurance plan after they leave a job or when they no longer work enough hours to qualify for their company's health insurance plan. Under most situations Cobra health coverage can usually last for 18 months. COBRA generally requires that group health policies sponsored by employers with 20 or more employees in the previous year offer employees and their families the opportunity for a temporary extension of health coverage in certain instances where coverage under the plan would otherwise stop. The program allows workers and their families who lose their health benefits the ability to continue their group medical benefits provided by their group health coverage for a limited period of time under specific circumstances such as transition between jobs, involuntary job loss, divorce, reduction in the hours worked, voluntary job loss or death. A person who is on Cobra may have to pay the full amount of the premium for the coverage as well as an additional two percent of the cost of the plan as an administrative fee. Once you have lost your group medical plan coverage their are 60 days to accept Cobra coverage or lose all rights to benefits.
