This internet web page talks about CA Medicare hospice advice. Hospices are organizations that provide support for individuals who have a terminal illness. This care provides treatment which is intended to reduce suffering as opposed to provide a cure. This type of care usually includes counseling and physical care. Hospice care may be provided in a person's home, in a hospice or in a hospital. To be eligible for Medicare hospice benefits a person must be certified as terminally ill by a doctor and the hospice medical director, sign a statement saying you wish to receive hospice care instead of routine Medicare care, receive care from a Medicare-approved hospice organization and be eligible for Medicare Part A. The types of people who help care for hospice patients are volunteers, doctors, nurses, physical therapists, trained counselors, their family, speech therapists, clergy, social workers and occupational therapists. Medicare covers most of the costs of social workers, medical equipment and supplies, respite care, short-term hospital care, nurses, occupational therapy, home health aids, speech therapy, physical therapy, doctors, general counseling for both the patient and the patient's family, dietary counseling and medicine. Medicare does not pay for care from a hospice other than the one the person first chose, duplicate care from some other provider for services covered by your hospice, room and board if you live in a nursing home or your own home while receiving the hospice care and treatment intended to cure the illness. A person who is receiving Medicare hospice care will continue to be able to use their Medicare plan to receive care for health problems that are not related to the terminal illness in the same fashion that they would if they were not also receiving the hospice care. You are allowed to get hospice care for as long as you are certified as being terminal ill.
