This page is about CA Medicare Part B advice. Medicare Part B is often referred to as Medical insurance. It is an optional program which covers certain health care costs not covered by Part A. To receive Part B of Medicare a person has to pay a monthly premium. In reality a person who has Medicare Part B is only paying a portion of the actual premium with the government paying for the majority of the premium. Medicare Part B helps to pay for many of the costs of health care not covered under Part A. Medical services including doctor's services (not including routine physical exams) durable medical equipment, outpatient medical and surgical services as well as supplies, blood received as an outpatient, second opinions, outpatient mental health care and outpatient physical therapy, laboratory tests and outpatient hospital services. For Medicare Part B there is an annual deductible and a co-payment for covered services. This is another significant difference between Part A and Part B. With Part a person is responsible for 20% of the approved amount after the deductible is paid. If certain conditions are met Medicare Part B may help to pay for emergency care, dialysis, braces, mammograms, glaucoma screenings, artificial eyes, second opinions, pelvic exams, pap tests, vaccinations, prostate cancer screenings, diabetes services and supplies, ambulance services, colorectal cancer screenings, bone mass measurements, diagnostic tests, transplants and prosthetic limbs. Medicare Part B does exclude certain physician services. These include eye exams and glasses, routine physical exams, most cosmetic surgery, routing foot care and hearing exams. For each 12 month period that you are eligible to sign up for Part B that you do not sign up for it the premium amount increases by 10%.
