The purpose of this page is to discuss CA Medicare Supplement core. All currently sold Medicare Supplement plans must cover a minimum set of benefits. These minimum benefits are known as the Medicare Supplement core benefits. The core Medicare Supplement benefits are: Paying the Medicare Part A co-payments for the 61st day of hospitalization through the 90th day of hospitalization. Paying the Medicare Part A coinsurance amount for the 60 lifetime reserve days. Covering the Part A hospital expenses after all Medicare Part A hospital benefits have been used up. Paying the cost of the first three pints of blood under both Part A and Part B. Paying the Part B co-payments for Medicare approved charges. All Medicare Supplement policies must have these core benefits. In addition to the core benefits there are other standard features a Medicare Supplement can have. A Medicare Supplement policy cannot be made up of whatever additional coverages an insurance company wants to have in them. There are ten standard plans that an insurance company can sell.
