This foreign care must begin within 60 days of leaving the United States. This benefit has a $250 deductible and is subject to a $50,000 lifetime maximum benefit. The treatment has to be a type of care that would be covered by Medicare had the care been received in the U.S. It is also possible for extra benefits to be offered in Medicare Supplemental plans, but these extra benefits must be approved by the state insurance commissioner.
