CA Medigap Eligibility

This web page goes into CA Medigap eligibility. Medicare is available for several classes of people. If you or your spouse has worked and paid Medicare taxes for a sufficient period of time and are at least 65 then you are probably eligible eligible to receive Medicare Part A without having to pay a premium for it. If neither you nor your spouse paid Medicare taxes for a sufficient period of time and are now 65 years of age then it may be possible for you to buy Medicare Part A. Eligibility for Medicare Part A occurs at age 65, not at retirement. This means a person could still be working while receiving coverage from Medicare. If the person still has health coverage from their employer then their Medicare coverage would be secondary.

People who are under 65 may be eligible for Medicare benefits if they meet certain criteria. You may be eligible if you have been entitled to Social Security disability benefits or Railroad Retirement Board disability benefits for two years or longer. People who have end-stage renal disease may be eligible for Medicare. This is when a person has permanent kidney failure that requires dialysis or a kidney transplant. A person who turns age 65 can qualify for Medicare based on their spouses Social Security contributions. The significance of this is that people who have not worked sufficiently to qualify for Medicare themselves can qualify based on their spouses payments into the Social Security system. The significance of this is that people who have not worked sufficiently to qualify for Medicare themselves can qualify based on their spouses payments into the Social Security system. This applies irregardless of whether their spouse is 65 or not. Enrollment in for Part B of Medicare is optional and requires a person to pay a monthly premium.
