The purpose of this internet web page is to explain California Medicare eligibility help. Medicare is available for several classes of people. If you or your spouse has worked and paid Medicare taxes for a sufficient period of time and you are at least 65 then you are probably eligible eligible to receive Medicare Part A without having to pay a premium for it. If neither you nor your spouse paid Medicare taxes for a sufficient period of time and are now 65 years of age then you may be able to purchase Medicare Part A. Eligibility for Medicare Part A occurs not at retirement, but at age 65. This means that a person could still be working while receiving coverage from Medicare. If a person still has medical coverage from their employer then Medicare coverage would be secondary. People who are under 65 may be eligible for Medicare benefits if they meet certain criteria. You may be eligible if you have been entitled to Social Security disability benefits or Railroad Retirement Board disability benefits for two years or longer. People who have end-stage renal disease may be eligible for Medicare. This is when someone has permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant. A person who turns age 65 can qualify for Medicare based on their spouses Social Security contributions. The significance of this is that people who have not worked sufficiently to qualify for Medicare themselves can qualify based on their spouses payments into the Social Security system. The significance of this is that people who have not worked sufficiently to qualify for Medicare themselves can qualify based on their spouses payments into the Social Security system.
