The purpose of this web page is to explain California Medicare Part B help. Medicare Part B is often referred to as Medical insurance. It is an optional program which covers certain health care costs not covered by Part A. To receive Part B of Medicare a person has to pay a monthly premium. In reality a person who has Medicare Part B is only paying a portion of the actual premium with the government paying for the majority of the premium. Medicare Part B helps to pay for many of the costs of health care not covered under Part A. Medical services including doctor's services (not including routine physical exams) outpatient hospital services, second opinions, outpatient medical and surgical services as well as supplies, durable medical equipment, blood received as an outpatient, laboratory tests and outpatient mental health care and outpatient physical therapy. With Medicare Part B there is a co-payment and an annual deductible for covered services. This is a significant difference between Medicare Part A and Part B. With Part a person is responsible for 20% of the approved amount after the deductible is paid. If certain conditions are met Medicare Part B may help to pay for pap tests, ambulance services, prostate cancer screenings, glaucoma screenings, artificial eyes, prosthetic limbs, mammograms, vaccinations, colorectal cancer screenings, transplants, emergency care, braces, second opinions, diagnostic tests, pelvic exams, diabetes services and supplies, bone mass measurements and dialysis. Some physician services are excluded under Part B. These include eye exams and glasses, routine foot care, most cosmetic surgery hearing exams and routine physical exams.
