Covering 80% of the billed charges for emergency treatment, physician services and other medical services received in a foreign country that is medically necessary. The care must begin within 60 days of leaving the U.S. This benefit has a $250 deductible and is also subject to a $50,000 lifetime maximum benefit. This treatment has to be a type of treatment that would be covered by Medicare if the care been received in the United States. It is possible for extra benefits to be offered in Medicare Supplement policies, but these extra benefits must be approved by the state insurance commissioner.
